A SUN investigation today reveals Amazon staff can listen to Alexa recordings of British couples rowing, discussing private family matters — and having sex. The sounds of lovemaking are among noises that can trigger Alexa-activated Echo speakers, which make recordings as users speak to them. Amazon staff listen to a proportion of the recordings in order to monitor and improve the system.
The device, apparently, can be activated by the sounds of lovemaking, family rows, private conversations and much more, and record everything it hears. Amazon employees, meanwhile, have the ability to listen to all of these recordings. The tech giant monitors these recordings in order to improve on the system, the Sun says.

Amazon contractors may be eavesdropping on consumers' personal conversations, including perhaps during their most intimate moments, according to a new report about the popular in-home digital assistant. The British tabloid The Sun heard from a former Alexa analyst in Bucharest who said that Amazon employees in the Romanian capital have spoken about listening in on couples having sex, and on possible instances of sexual assault. The integrity of Alexa's privacy safeguards and compliance with privacy laws have come into question in recent months.
G rowing up watching romantic movies where the right song magically pops into the air at the moment someone is about to kiss you gave me a lot of unreasonable expectations in life. My boyfriend and I always enjoyed having sex to good music and would often find a way to set up a speaker with our favorite golden oldies. No need to say, our lives significantly changed when Amazon Alexa was brought into our bedroom.
By Ian Randall For Mailonline. Amazon staff review thousands of audio recordings made by Alexa each day — including snippets of couples arguing and having sex — an investigation claims. The clips were accidentally captured by the popular digital assistant — confusing the noises for the commands it should be listening to — and sent off for analysis.
Apple said it would stop using contractors to listen in on users through Siri to grade the voice assistant's accuracy after an Apple whistle-blower told The Guardian that the contractors responsible for "grading" the accuracy of the digital assistant regularly overheard conversations about doctors' appointments, drug deals and even couples having sex. Their job was to determine what triggered Siri into action - whether the user had actually said, "Hey, Siri" or if it was something else, such as the sound of a zipper. Apple said it would suspend the global analysis of those voice recordings while it reviewed the grading system.
